News:
Carl Edwards won the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, his 8th win of the 2008 season. The team took a huge gamble to stretch their fuel window during the last section of the race. ?I thought there's no way we can go this slow, save this much fuel, and still be leading this race? said Edwards. ?The car was very fast. We got behind on that last pit stop and it was still very cool to win the thing.? Edwards was able to close the gap on Chase leader Jimmie Johnson. Edwards is now trailing by 106 points with two races remaining. Edwards gained 77 points this weekend, so it?s not impossible for him to win the series title after all. (Eric Adams/SB)

Jeff Gordon Chevy, Hendrick Motorsports 11/03/08, Time: 11:47 am
News:
Jeff Gordon finished 2nd in the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. He jumped to 5th in the Sprint Cup standings. "That Lucky Dog really played in our favor because we able to roll around there quite a few laps and come in later and top off, I conserved a little bit under yellow,? Gordon said. ?When they said we were one lap short, I really wasn't that worried. I was still letting off real early. We didn't know the No. 99 was going to go for it, obviously a great call. Second is like a win for me here at Texas.? With a couple solid runs, Gordon should finish either 4th or 5th in the standings. (Eric Adams/SB)
